Message from Secretary General

ANRPC Dear Sir / Madam,

It gives me immense pleasure to speak to the global rubber fraternity immediately after assuming the office of Secretary-General of ANRPC for a period of three years from today.

Personally I have come to know the rubber tree for quite a long time, as in my childhood I used to play under the canopy of the rubber trees which my grandfather, a humble farmer, grew in the countryside Southeast of Vietnam. Back then, I was thinking how wonderful the tree was, with its beautiful flowers, its marvelous fruit’s shell and seeds, and particularly its elastic bands I spun to make a throwing-ball to play with my buddies.

When I grew up and started to learn about natural rubber, the deeper I looked into the nature of the material the more frequently I came from one interest to another. Time went by, my knowledge and feeling toward natural rubber accumulated, and I have come to my belief that planting the rubber tree to produce natural rubber is something really worth doing in this world. Today, in the context of climate change and global warming, it seems that my belief is ever more strengthened.

Rubber growers promise to provide the world with one of the most valuable raw materials given to mankind by Nature. We try to guarantee the supply of the material with the best quality that matches changing needs of every industry.

ANRPC looks forward to reinforcing the collaboration not only among member governments of the ANRPC, but also with natural rubber producing countries outside, with other international organizations in the rubber field, and with rubber consumers. This collaboration is the fundamental of the harmonious relationship between natural rubber production and consumption sectors, for the benefit of every side, of which the ultimate goal is the sustainable development of the world’s natural rubber industry.

I would like to ask for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the value-chain of global rubber industry to enable ANRPC to discharge its functions more effectively.

Thank you.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Bich
Secretary-General, ANRPC
