The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) has a vacancy for the position of Senior Economist at its Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur. The appointment of this position will be for a period of five years, including one year of probation.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Citizens of ANRPC’s Member Countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam)

  • At least a graduate degree in economics/agricultural economics and/ or having a minimum of 10 years’ experience in natural rubber sector in the government/university/public sector with skill in the preparation of technical reports/project or scientific documentation. Candidates having an advanced degree in economics or agricultural economics and a longer period of experience in the natural rubber sector will be given preference.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills and proficiency in English.

  • Not more than 50 years of age as on 1 March 2024.

 

 

Job Description/ Responsibilities

 

  1. Undertaking studies on the world rubber position and examining the long-term and short-term issues facing the natural rubber industry, including the rubber market situation, price analysis and demand-supply position

  2. Coordinating and monitoring implementation of projects.

  3. Reviewing economic and statistical matters.

  4. Preparing draft policy papers.

  5. Supervising R&D activities of the Secretariat.

  6. Supervising preparation of the budget and all financial matters.

  7. Preparing and supporting all meetings related to ANRPC.

  8. Assisting Secretary-General in running the Secretariat.

  9. Assuming the functions of Secretary-General in his/her absence.

  10. Discharging any other authorized duties assigned by ANRPC’s Executive Committee and Secretary-General from time to time.

 

 

Remuneration and Entitlements

 

The successful candidate will be offered a basic salary of RM8,218 and attractive remuneration package including housing, cost of living, fixed entertainment, phone and utilities allowance, outpatient medical reimbursement, hospitalization & life insurance, home leave and more as laid down under Staff Rules & Regulations of ANRPC.

Interview

 

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview, tentatively on 5 March 2024. As part of the interview, candidates should give a presentation for about 15 minutes by sharing their experience and knowledge in the rubber industry and economy. The selected candidate is expected to join duty at the ANRPC Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur on 1 April 2024.
