Bangladesh

Bangladesh has implemented the Bangladesh Rubber Policy 2010, which emphasizes environmentally sustainable practices in natural rubber cultivation. This policy prohibits the clearing of forests for rubber plantations, allowing cultivation only in unclassified forest lands and barren uplands to prevent deforestation. While there are no ecologically sensitive regions where rubber cultivation is restricted, the policy promotes responsible land use. Additionally, it discourages the use of harmful pesticides and encourages traditional bio-fertilizers, enhancing soil health and biodiversity. Although specific guidelines for soil preservation are lacking, the policy aligns with the National Conservation Strategy to maintain soil quality and moisture. Furthermore, the promotion of rubber wood utilization and the establishment of effluent treatment systems illustrate the commitment to sustainability, ensuring that rubber production supports both environmental health and economic development.
