A barrage of new Trump policies has increased uncertainty for businesses, consumers, and investors, notably the back-and-forth tariff moves against major trading partners like Canada, Mexico, and China.

The Republican president spoke to about 100 CEOs at a regular meeting of the Business Roundtable in Washington, an influential group of CEOs leading major US companies, which include Apple, JPMorgan Chase and Walmart.

The ringgit started the day flat against the US dollar as investors adopted a wait-and-see stance following Bank Negara Malaysia’s recent decision to hold interest rates steady, which weighed on sentiment.
