Given policy uncertainty around Chinese EV exports to major markets like the U.S. and Europe, BYD is seeking to bolster overseas sales by moving production to regions perceived as more friendly.

BYD is currently building facilities in Thailand and Brazil, and has also announced plans in Indonesia, Hungary and Uzbekistan.

Recently reported plans for BYD to move to Mexico have further flared calls to ban imports of Chinese EVs to the U.S.

According to sources within the Rubber Board, this initiative is expected to benefit farmers significantly, as the policy is anticipated to drive up the prices of natural rubber by promoting exports of the product.
