Cambodia is expected to see a 6.6-per cent rise in its economy in 2024 from 5.6 per cent in 2023, the country's Prime Minister Hun Manet (pic) said here on Tuesday (April 2).

The South-East Asian country's growth is mainly driven by garment export, tourism, agriculture, as well as construction, and real estate, reported Xinhua.

"Over decades, Cambodia has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving into a modern and globally integrated economy," he said in a speech during the opening ceremony of a one-day Cambodia-Asean Business Summit here.

"Our growth is projected to return to the pre-pandemic level of 7 per cent by 2028, signaling a promising economic future," he added.

Hun Manet said Cambodia's strategic membership in key regional and global trade agreements positions it as a highly integrated player within the dynamic global market.

"Made-in-Cambodia products, encompassing garments and bicycles, are now recognised worldwide for their quality and competitive pricing," he said.

"This signifies Cambodia's growing presence in the global marketplace."
