Malaysia’s Rubber Output Rises 11.4% In Oct, Though Lower YoY

Malaysia’s natural rubber (NR) production rose 11.4% month-on-month to 29,673 tonnes in October 2025, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). However, output remained 22.7% lower compared to the same month last year, when production stood at 38,400 tonnes.
The smallholders sector continued to dominate national output, contributing 86.5% of total production, while estates accounted for 13.5%.
Total NR inventories declined 8.9% to 145,438 tonnes in October, down from 159,646 tonnes in September. Rubber processors held the bulk of the stocks (80.1%), followed by rubber product manufacturers (19.8%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports Surge 57.8% on Strong Demand from China
Exports jumped 57.8% month-on-month to 52,932 tonnes, rebounding from 33,549 tonnes in September.
China remained Malaysia’s top NR export market, accounting for 55.3% of total shipments, followed by: Germany (9.4%), United Arab Emirates (8.7%), United States (8.0%) and Egypt (2.7%)
NR-based manufactured products also supported export performance, with gloves remaining the largest contributor. Glove exports rose 12.4% to RM1.2 billion in October from RM1.1 billion in September.
Prices Continue Downward Trend
Average monthly NR prices recorded marginal declines: Concentrated Latex: down 1.4% to 569.84 sen/kg and Scrap Rubber: down 0.7% to 600.44 sen/kg
Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR) grades also slipped between 0.4% and 1.9%.
While October’s month-on-month production recovery offers some support to the sector, industry observers note that continued year-on-year declines reflect ongoing structural and seasonal challenges, including labour constraints, weather variability and global demand uncertainty.
