OSE expects that this new product will provide a “risk-hedging tool” for Japanese and international companies holding rubber inventories in China to manage price fluctuations.

This service will also establish a “new arbitrage trading ecosystem” between the Japanese and Chinese natural rubber futures markets. A licensing agreement signed in January allows the SHFE and OSE to leverage their market and industry advantages to bring Chinese rubber prices to manufacturers and consumers in Japan and other regions.

Today's rubber price decline is attributed to the anticipated supply increase as major producing countries enter harvest season. However, growing demand for tire materials and concerns over extreme weather potentially impacting output have somewhat supported the market.
