Today's global rubber prices remained stable in Thailand, with a slight increase in China. Meanwhile, the Japanese market reversed course and declined, pressured by a weakening Tokyo stock market, a series of less-than-positive economic data from China, and a strengthening yen.

Japanese stock markets fell, with the Nikkei 225 index dropping more than 1% as technology stocks followed Wall Street's trend, amid investor concerns about inflated valuations. Further downward pressure came from the strengthening yen.

The yen's appreciation stems from expectations that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) will soon raise interest rates. Sources familiar with the matter say the BOJ is likely to maintain its commitment to raising interest rates at its upcoming meeting, especially as a recent survey showed that business sentiment among major Japanese manufacturers rose to its highest level in four years during the three months to December.

Meanwhile, the Chinese economy is facing a pressing need for new growth drivers as it heads into 2026. Its industrial output growth has slowed to a 15-month low, and retail sales have recorded their weakest growth since the abrupt end of the “Zero COVID” policy.

Thus, today's rubber prices (December 16, 2025) in the world market have fluctuated slightly compared to yesterday.
