Stellantis Malaysia to launch all-new Peugeot 408 in Q2 2024, other Stellantis brands to follow

Stellantis has announced that the new Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company (Stellantis Malaysia) has officially begun operations as of 1 March 2024, and will now be the carmaker’s official entity directing and managing marketing, sales, distribution, and aftersales operations in Malaysia.
The new national sales company marks the beginning of a new business strategy for Stellantis, which will see an increased focus on growth within the ASEAN region, in line with the company’s electrification plans and its Dare Forward 2030 strategy.
Stellantis Malaysia’s first order of business is to take over as the brand principal for Peugeot in the country, succeeding Bermaz Auto Alliance – the latter of which has now ceased operations. But beyond Peugeot, the company also has plans to introduce more vehicles from the wider Stellantis group stable into the country.
Commenting on the new national sales company, Stellantis Malaysia Managing Director, Jamie Francis Morais said, “Stellantis Malaysia is an exciting start and new business chapter for us here in Malaysia. Our priorities are four-pronged – accelerating market growth, expanding product portfolio, creating new dealership opportunities nationwide, and subsequently providing improved customer experience. This includes expanding our dealer network nationwide and building a stronger presence in East Malaysia.”
“We thank Bermaz Auto for their efforts as the custodians of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia since December 2020. With the establishment of Stellantis Malaysia, we are committed to continuing the growth of Peugeot and the prospects of bringing in a wider range of vehicles from other brands under the Stellantis portfolio whilst focusing on enhancing the lives of our customers through our products and services,” added Morais.
The company has revealed a “potential future line-up of vehicles” that it plans to introduce into Malaysia during its recent Investor Day, which will include the all-new Peugeot 408 sometime in Q2 2024, as well as the Peugeot Landtrek in CKD form. Aside from Peugeot models, the Citroen C3 Aircross, Alfa Romeo Tonale MHEV, and Jeep Wrangler were also showcased at the event, hinting at a possible future introduction in the country.
