SunSirs: India’s Natural Rubber Production to Rise 3.1% in 2025; Consumption Up 2.6%

According to the latest data, India's natural rubber production in 2025 is projected to increase by 3.1% year-on-year, reaching 903,000 tons—up from 876,000 tons in the previous year. Specifically, latex production is expected to decline by 0.9% year-on-year to 106,000 tons; ribbed smoked sheet (RSS) production is set to rise by 2.7% to 575,000 tons; technically specified rubber (TSR) production is forecast to grow by 8.5% to 205,000 tons; and production of other categories is expected to fall by 15% to 17,000 tons.

Domestic consumption of natural rubber is projected to increase by 2.6% year-on-year, reaching 1,438,000 tons—up from 1,402,000 tons in the previous year. Within this total, latex consumption is expected to rise by 13.3% to 119,000 tons; RSS consumption is set to grow by 2.2% to 607,000 tons; TSR consumption is forecast to decline slightly by 0.3% to 667,000 tons; and consumption of other categories is expected to surge by 35% to 46,000 tons.

Synthetic rubber production is projected to increase by 5.8% year-on-year, reaching 602,000 tons—up from 569,000 tons in the previous year. Specifically, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) production is expected to rise by 4.6% to 319,000 tons; polybutadiene rubber (PBR) production is set to grow by 6.9% to 140,000 tons; and production of other categories is forecast to increase by 7.5% to 143,000 tons.

Domestic consumption of synthetic rubber is projected to increase by 5.8% year-on-year, reaching 891,000 tons—up from 842,000 tons in the previous year. Within this total, SBR consumption is expected to rise by 8.7% to 448,000 tons; PBR consumption is set to grow by 7.6% to 282,000 tons; and consumption of other categories is forecast to decline by 4.2% to 161,000 tons.

Furthermore, in 2025, with India's tire manufacturing sector serving as the core demand driver, natural rubber consumption is expected to decrease by 6% to 901,000 tons, while synthetic rubber consumption is projected to achieve a 7% increase, reaching 620,000 tons.
