SunSirs: Rising Natural Rubber Raw Material Prices in Thailand Boost Market Sentiment

On April 28, market prices for natural rubber raw materials in Thailand's production regions trended upward: Smoked Sheets were quoted at 82.00 THB/kg, an increase of 1.00 THB/kg; Latex was quoted at 80.25 THB/kg, up 0.50 THB/kg; and Cup Lump was quoted at 65.35 THB/kg, up 0.30 THB/kg.

Prices for all natural rubber raw materials (Smoked Sheets, Latex, and Cup Lump) in the Thai production regions rose across the board, with increases ranging from 0.30 to 1.00 THB/kg. This indicates a rise in raw material costs, which is expected to drive up the production costs for spot natural rubber and provide support for spot market prices. In conjunction with the latest market data from the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the settlement price for the benchmark natural rubber futures contract (Contract 2609) stood at 17,130 RMB/ton. Open interest reached 194,078 lots—an increase of 821 lots—while trading volume remained active, signaling a strengthening bullish sentiment within the market. Expectations of rising raw material costs are likely to stimulate buying activity in the futures market, thereby supporting further upward price movement.
