SunSirs: Impact of Damage to Thailand Rubber Plantations on Natural Rubber Markets

According to reports from Thailand dated October 5, a total of 141,472 rai (approximately 23,000 hectares) of rubber plantations across the Thai provinces of Rayong, Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, and Sa Kaeo were affected between September 24 and 30, impacting 7,679 rubber growers (data as of September 30).
Thailand is a key global producer of natural rubber. The damage to approximately 23,000 hectares of plantations across these four provinces is expected to temporarily constrain local natural rubber supplies, providing significant support for spot prices. Near-term futures contracts are likely to trade with a bullish bias, bolstered by this supply-side factor; overall, the impact is considered moderately positive for the market.
