ANRPC Participated in FAO–Team Europe Initiative Workshop in Hanoi, Viet Nam
The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) in a four‑day dialogue held under the theme “Towards a shared Asia-Pacific roadmap for traceable agricultural value chains decoupled from deforestation” The workshop took place from 23–26 June 2026 in Hanoi, Viet Nam, with a specific focus on natural rubber, palm oil, and coffee supply chains.
Representing ANRPC, Dr. Suttipong Angthong and Dr. Lekshmi Nair contributed to discussions on strengthening linkages between agriculture and forestry sectors by transforming agricultural growth pathways.
Across Asia and the Pacific, commodities such as coffee, natural rubber, and palm oil support the livelihoods of millions of farmers and contribute significantly to national economies. However, unsustainable cropland expansion remains a key driver of forest loss in parts of the region.
During a panel discussion on “Reflecting on the significance of national traceability system development,” Dr. Angthong emphasized the role of intergovernmental organizations like ANRPC in supporting deforestation‑free supply chains and ensuring inclusivity in implementation.
Both Dr. Angthong and Dr. Nair also joined the drafting committee to develop the Asia‑Pacific Roadmap for Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains Decoupled from Deforestation, identifying cross‑commodity solutions and action areas to address challenges and barriers.
