ANRPC Secretary-General Joins Distinguished Guests at the 2026 Royal Ploughing Ceremony

BANGKOK, 13 May 2026 – Dr. Suttipong Angthong, Secretary-General of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC), was deeply honored to attend the Royal Ceremony of the First Ploughing of the Season held on 13 May 2026 at the Sanam Luang ceremonial grounds.

Representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, the ceremony officially opened the new rice-growing season through sacred rites that have guided the nation for centuries. Dr. Suttipong stood alongside esteemed ambassadors and heads of international organizations to witness this significant tradition which serves to encourage and strengthen the spirit of farmers throughout the country.

The presence of the ANRPC at such a venerable event highlights the profound importance of agriculture to the Thai way of life. While the ceremony is rooted in the commencement of rice cultivation, it carries immense weight for the natural rubber sector as well. As Thailand remains the world’s leading producer and exporter of natural rubber, this day of blessing serves as a humble reminder of the dedication required to sustain the nation's position as a global agricultural leader.

The ceremony provided a meaningful opportunity for Dr. Suttipong to engage with international partners and reaffirm the shared commitment to the welfare of agricultural workers. For the rubber industry, which supports millions of families and forms a cornerstone of the Thai economy, the Royal Ploughing Ceremony symbolizes a hopeful beginning for all who toil on the land.

In reflecting on the experience, Dr. Suttipong expressed his sincere gratitude for the invitation to participate in a tradition that so beautifully connects Thailand’s rich cultural heritage with its modern role as a primary provider of natural rubber to the world. He noted that the unity displayed by the international community during the event underscores a collective responsibility to support the sustainable growth and prosperity of the agricultural sector.
