The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today, buoyed by continued weakness in the greenback amid growing concerns over the United States’ (US) fiscal trajectory and trade policy inconsistencies.

Ms Pimjai says the country needs to deal with the US reciprocal tariff on Thai exports to avoid damaging Thailand's competitiveness.

SINGAPORE: Japanese rubber futures ended the week in the green on Friday on worsening weather in top producer Thailand, though gains were capped by the upcoming harvesting season and softer oil prices.

Oil prices gained in early Asian trade on Monday after US President Donald Trump extended a deadline for trade talks with the European Union, easing concerns about US tariffs on the bloc that could hurt the global economy and fuel demand.

The ringgit continued to strengthen against the US dollar at the opening today, driven by the tariff shocks which is expected to take a negative toll on the US economy, an analyst said.
