The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) has a vacancy for the position of Economist at its Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur. The appointment of this position will be for a period of five years, including one year of probation.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Citizens of ANRPC’s Member Countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam)

  • A bachelor’s degree with honours in Economics or an equivalent qualification.

  • A minimum of two years’ working experience in an agricultural commodity, preferably natural rubber, will be an added advantage.

  • Preference will be given to candidates having advanced degree in Economics and better working experience. Statistics as one of the subjects will be considered as an advantage.

  • Candidate should be proficient in analytical skills and in English language.

  • Candidates should not be over 40 years of age.

 

 

Job Description/ Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Senior Economist, the Economist will:

  • Be responsible for updating the Association’s database by constantly interacting with all Member Governments and other relevant sources;

  • Be responsible for duly publishing Monthly NR Statistical Report (Monthly) and Annual Bulletin of Natural Rubber Statistics;

  • Suggest measures for improving coverage and quality of data published by the Association.

  • Prepare analytical reports on natural rubber markets on a monthly basis;

  • Report developments in global economy, automobile industry, general rubber goods industry, crude petroleum and synthetic rubber prices;

  • Monitor developments relating to WTO and other FTAs and report the same with reference to rubber industry;

  • Be in charge of updating the Association’s website and IT facilities in the Secretariat;

  • Undertake techno-economic studies and prepare technical working papers;

  • Prepare for and service meetings and conferences of the Association;

  • Undertake other duties assigned by the Secretary-General.

 

 

 

Remuneration and Entitlements


The successful candidate will be offered a basic salary of RM5,851 and attractive remuneration package including housing, cost of living, fixed entertainment, phone and utilities allowance, outpatient medical reimbursement, hospitalization & life insurance, home leave and more as laid down under Staff Rules & Regulations of ANRPC.

Interview


Shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview, tentatively on 15 July 2024. As part of the interview, candidates should give a PowerPoint presentation for about 15 minutes by sharing their experience and knowledge in the rubber industry. The selected candidate is expected to join duty at the ANRPC Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur on 2 September 2024.
